Japan: Reduction Of Official Fees For Trademarks And Patents Approved

After the JPO’s announcement of a planned reduction in fees back in January (we reported), the appropriate amendment of the Japanese Patent Law has now been approved by the Diet and promulgated on April 18. The amended law includes the reduction of patent and trademark-related fees by an average of 12% and 43% respectively and will come into effect on June 1.

New Fee Structure For International Registrations With Designation for Japan

The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) has established new fees when Japan is designated in an international trademark application, in a designation subsequent to international registration or in respect of the renewal of an international registration.
